Nyctixalus pictus is a petite nocturnal tree frog species which lives in secondary forests and usually breeds in tree cavities. Adults are usually observed perching on leaves of shrubs and small trees 1-3 metres above ground or even sometimes on the leaf litter. Thus, these frogs can be tricky to trace when you hear them calling to each other. They are known to eat crickets, grasshoppers, bristletails and silverfishes.
